Kerry to travel to Russia to meet with Putin


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Sochi, Russia today where he will meet with President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and other Russian officials on Tuesday to discuss a range of bilateral issues including Iran, Syria and Ukraine.

"This trip is part of our ongoing effort to maintain direct lines of communication with senior Russian officials and to ensure U.S. views are clearly conveyed," said State Department Acting Spokesperson Marie Harf in a statement on Monday.

Kerry will then travel to Antalya, Turkey for a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers on May 13. That evening, he will return to Washington to join the President's dinner with the GCC leaders.
