Tarawneh unveils government's plans to promote human rights
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The government's Coordinator on Human Rights, Basil Tarawneh, on Tuesday unveiled the government's plans to advance the architecture of human rights in the Kingdom, during a meeting with delegations representing Arab and Foreign associations.
Tarawneh, during a meeting with the manager of National Democratic Institute (NDI), Arianit Shehu, and the manager of Governance Program at the institute, Bushra Abu-Shahout, pointed out that the Royal directives came to enhance the supreme principles of human rights and were applied by the Jordanian state.
He added that a series of procedures were backed by the Prime Minister to embody the real concept of human rights in Jordan.
Shehu confirmed the remarkable progress in the field of human rights at the official level, made by the Jordanian government and reviewed the policy and programs of the NDI in supporting the ambitious programs through cooperation between the two sides.
Tarawneh also met with the Director of Jordan's programs at the American Bar Association (ABA) for the MENA region, Maha Shomali, where they discussed ways to put in place a comprehensive national plan for human rights in coordination with local institutions.
The government's coordinator also discussed with the Chairman of the Board of the Kuwait Society for human rights, Khalid Al-Ajmi, ways of collaborating and exchanging expertise in the field of human rights.
