Japan To Provide Modular Post Offices, Debris-Clearing Equipment To Ukraine's Frontline Regions


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories stated this on its website, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, 20 modular post offices will be provided to Ukrposhta and installed in settlements where permanent branches were destroyed or damaged as a result of hostilities. They will ensure the stable provision of postal and financial services amid limited infrastructure.

In addition, communities in Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv regions will receive 40 units of additional heavy equipment for debris removal and the provision of municipal services.

Moreover, the Vocational Training Centers in Bila Tserkva will receive a modern training simulator for operators of heavy construction equipment, as well as five units of modern construction and cargo machinery.

Procurement will be carried out by the Japanese side, and the equipment will be delivered to Ukrainian cities over the next six months.

The Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction Project is an international technical assistance initiative under which infrastructure is restored through quick impact projects (QIP). The project has already proven its effectiveness through rapid responses to community needs, including the provision of necessary equipment to municipal services, educational institutions, and hospitals, expert support, and training activities.

Overall, since 2023, more than $700 million in assistance has been provided through technical and grant aid projects from the Government of Japan, coordinated by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories and implemented jointly with JICA. These funds have been directed to the energy sector, transport infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply, humanitarian demining, the agro-industrial complex, and municipal facilities.

As reported, Japan has transferred about EUR 47.7 million for Ukraine's reconstructio under Phase 4 of the Emergency Recovery Program and has approved the launch of a new phase of the Program.
