Egypt- NTRA refutes rumours on recharge cards price increase

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) class="p1">An official source at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) spoke to Daily News Egypt and denied any increases in the prices of mobile recharge cards, due to recent increases in energy prices.

This came in response to rumours spread through social media about raising the prices of cards after the fuel prices were increased by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The Ministry of Petroleum had raised fuel prices by 17.5-67% on different products.

Diesel and gasoline 80 prices increased by EGP 1.85 to reach EGP 5.5 from EGP 3.65, marking an increase of about 51%.

Gasoline 92 prices were also hiked by 35% rising from EGP 5 to EGP 6.75.

The decision was debated on social media platforms as many objected, while others were indifferent.

Meanwhile, the price of gasoline 95 increased from EGP 6.6 to EGP 7.75, rising by 17%. The highest hike was for the butane cylinders for household and commercial use, rising by 66.5% and 67%. The former is now sold at EGP 50, up from EGP 30, while the latter is tagged as EGP 100, rising from EGP 60.
