4.2 magnitude earthquake hits SW Iran


(MENAFN) On Sunday, Iran's Dezful in southwestern Province of Khuzestan was hit by an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 9:15 hours local time (4:45 GMT) in an area located at 32.26 degrees latitude and 48.38 degrees longitude and at the depth of 10 km underground.

Another earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale also rocked Mianroud in southwestern Province of Khuzestan on Sunday.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
