Indonesia seeks new law after children marriage


(MENAFN) Two Indonesian children have married after a long struggle in Sulawesi, as their case raised criticism across the country.

The couple, boy aged 15, and the girl aged 14, were allowed to get married throughout a religious court.

Their wedding sparked controversy at their homeland and abroad, meanwhile the government intends to impose better laws.

The minimum age for getting married is 16 for girls, and 19 for boys, however, religious courts are able to give conditional permissions, as it usually do so.
