Diesel, gas, gold prices down in Kabul


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of diesel, liquefied gas and gold have dipped while other items€™ rates remain steady during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazir Abad Fuel Station in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News one liter of diesel decreased from 44 Afghanis to 42 Afghanis while the same amount of petrol remained steady at 44 Afghanis.

He linked reduction in diesel prices to its rates in international markets.

Ahmadullah, a gas dealer in Kolola Pushta area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity dipped from 55afs to 50afs.

However, the rates of firewood remain stable.

Haji Mir Hassan, a firewood seller in Charahi Shaheed area of Kabul told said that the price of 560 kilograms of peeled oak remain steady at 7,000afs and the same quantity of cedar 6,600afs.

The prices of food items also remain unchanged.

Food Traders Union head, Fazal Rahman, said that 49kg of Pakistani sugar cost 1,600afs, 50kg of Kazakhstani flour 1,100afs, 16 liters of Khurshid ghee 1,020afs and 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,000afs, the same rates as last week€™s.

Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad Khairkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs - same prices as last week€™s.

Ahmad Wali Panjsheri, who owns a grocery store in Dahn-i-Bagh area, sold a 49-kg bag of sugar for 1,800afs, a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,100afs, a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,180afs, 24-kg Pakistani rice for 2,400afs, a kilogram of green Indonesian tea for 300afs and the same quantity of black African tea for 350afs.

The price of Russian gold edged down.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Russian gold dipped from 1,950afs to 1,900afs while the rate of the same quantity of Arabian variety stood at 2,400afs.

According to Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-I-Shahzada in Kabul, one US dollar accounted for 69.10afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 611afs this week, against last week's rates of 69.05afs and 607afs respectively.
