Muscat Airport to be inaugurated in March

(MENAFN) Muscat International Airport is on its final preparations for the inauguration of its new passenger terminal in March, said a report.

The report in Oman Daily Observer said that commercial operations from the new terminal will commence on March 20.

"All incoming and outbound flights will be transferred from the current terminal to the new terminal from the date of commencement," said a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC).

The revamped Muscat International Airport is anticipated to hold the capacity to handle more than 12 million passengers a year and 48 million passengers after the completion of a number of four-phase construction projects.

The new terminal will have the capacity to handle large aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. The existing terminal will be used for low-cost carrier operations, the report said.
