After 3 long years, India will travel to South Africa to play 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is.

India have never won a Test series in South Africa and they will be looking to set that record straight.

Kumble also believes his former colleagues will do well in Africa.

"I'm confident that the team which we have, will certainly go on to create history in South Africa and then beyond. That's the confidence I have," Kumble said about Kohli and his boys.

Quit or sacked?

Kumble, who had a successful stint as the coach of the Indian cricket team, stepped down from his post after a reported rift with captain Virat Kohli.

Following his exit, Ravi Shastri took charge of the team. Under Kumble India won all their Test series, most of which were played on home soil.

He also stressed that coaches in cricket "don't have too much to say or too much to do"

The former Indian leg spinner also apologised to all his media friends for the WhatsApp group he had created.

In May, Kumble had created a WhatsApp group with a few media friends and had leaked talks between him and some senior players.

"Sorry to all journalists for not putting you all in my WhatsApp group," he said.
