Qatar- Holy Quran contest winners honoured

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honoured the winners of the Sheikh Jassem Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Holy Quran Competition in its 24th edition at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, in the presence of H E Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and representatives of Quranic competitions in a number of Arab and Islamic countries.

Amna Abdul Rahim Tahan won the first place in the competition (the whole Quran category for citizens), followed by Abdullah Hamad Salem Abu Sharida in second place, while Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ali Al Hamri came third, Mohammed Abdul Rashid Sheikh Sufi fourth and Abdul Aziz Saeed Helwan Abdullah in fifth place.

In the category of general preservation (for residents), the young people got to win the competition prizes in the category of the whole Quran, and achieved three places in this category, including the first place which was for Nourq Rahmat 14 years, and the fourth and fifth places for Muhannad Mohammed 14 years and Abdulrahman Yousif Ahmad 10 years, while Suobhi Abdulaziz Abu Zeid in second place, and Abdulmutallab Mohammed Ibrahim in third place.

The winners of the special preservation (for residents) are Waddah Khudher Al Khader, Abdullah Aman, Abdulnasser Reyyad Al Din, Ahmad Naji Al Rahal, Osama Siddiqui Maulana and Majdi Abdullah Ahmed.

The first place prize is QR100,000, the second QR85,000, the third QR70,000, the fourth QR60,000 and the fifth QR50,000, for all categories of the competition 'the whole Quran for Qataris and residents.

During the ceremony, Nasser bin Yusuf Al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Competition in his speech stressed that honouring the people of the Quran reflects the interest of the country's wise leadership in serving Allah's Holy Book. He noted that the competition in cooperation with (the religious administration of the Muslims of the Kyrgyz Republic) held a course for teachers of the Holy Quran in Doha and attended by a group of teachers from the Kyrgyz Republic.

Al Sulaiti has also announced the launch of a new category ( Rattel) that will be in the competition during the current academic year, in cooperation with Al Rayyan channel and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. He pointed out that this category is dedicated to the recitation of the Holy Quran.
