UAE Ambassador and Prime Minister of Tuvalu review cooperation

FUNAFUTI, Tuvalu, 11th December, 2017 (WAM) -- Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the UAE to Tuvalu, has met with Enele Sopoaga, Prime Minister of Tuvalu, to review relations of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and the Tuvalu Islands.

The meeting discussed H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation's decision in March 2013 to establish the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund, a US$50million initiative delivering renewable energy projects to Pacific Island nations, funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

The Fund's eleven projects were deployed in cooperation with Masdar's Special Projects unit and work towards improving living standards in the islands.

The Prime Minister of Tuvalu expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE Government for the support it provides, especially the construction of a power plant, one of Masdar's projects on the island.
