Politicians call for transparency on misconduct allegations within Congress
(MENAFN) A more transparent perspective on the way lawmakers managed sexual misconduct accusations in the past has been requested on Sunday by both Democrat and Republican politicians.
According to a report by The New York Times, although the reveal of past payouts through the legislation is uncertain, a bipartisan attempt is in place to pass legislation that would involve all misconduct allegations to be dealt with openly.
The proposition has received support from a number of politicians while others were oppose of it due to the possibility of victims not willing to share their claims in public.
During "Meet the Press" of NBC, Sen. Rob Portman said "I think it should be more transparent, I certainly think that if you accept taxpayer funds for settlement, that should be transparent."
