On September 23, India's external affairs minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj addressed the UN General Assembly.

Her speech dealt with Pakistan at great length and termed it "the pre-eminent export factory for terror."

Not shying away from taking veiled digs at China and the US, she further asserted India's views on global issues, including climate change.

She also called Islamabad a "champion of hypocrisy."

Chinese state-run daily Global Times has termed Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's strong rebuke of Pakistan at the UN General Assembly as "arrogant."

Swaraj had called Pakistan the "pre-eminent factory for terror."

In an editorial, the Chinese daily acknowledged "there is indeed terrorism in Pakistan" but implied that supporting terror isn't the country's policy.

It described Swaraj's speech as "bigotry."

Editorial accuses India of 'looking down on Pakistan'
Criticism

"What can Pakistan gain from exporting terrorism? Money or honor," the editorial titled 'India's bigotry no match for its ambition' stated.

"With smooth development of its economy and foreign relations in recent years, an arrogant India has looked down on Pakistan and assumed a haughty air with China," it added.

Editorial says India should be 'smart enough,' befriend China
What else?

The editorial said India takes for granted that it should be "feared" by its neighbors and courted by the US and Europe.

It said if India is smart enough, it would befriend China and respect Pakistan.

It said India shouldn't continue to view Chinese actions as a sign of hostility.

These actions included China's road construction at Doklam and the Belt and Road initiative.
