Jordan condemns inhumane attack in Syria

Amman, Rajab 8, 1438, Apr 5, 2017, SPA -- The government of Jordan said Wednesday that it has been following up reports of "savage and inhumane" attack using non-conventional weapons on Khan Shaykhun area of southern Idlib in Syria, that resulted in deaths of dozens of innocents civilians including children and women.
According to Petra News Agency, Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs, Mohammad Momani, said the horrible crime should prompt the international community to assume its humanitarian and moral responsibilities to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable.
"Such inhumane and horrendous acts, continued violence and targeting innocent civilians regardless of their motives and justifications reaffirm once again the need to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, which Jordan has called for since it erupted", said Momani.
The Jordanian minister, who is also the government spokesperson, said that all regional and international parties should unite in condemning such criminal acts.
He also emphasized the importance of enforcing international laws and conventions to stop the use of non-conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction, as well as the need to stop all forms of violence in the war-torn country, and the region.
The Jordanian minister also called on influential parties in the Syrian crisis to push all sides of the civil war to resume the Geneva talks and the Astana meetings, to craft a political solution in Syria and end the suffering of its people.
