KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: Ministry of Interior has been taking all measures to prepare for the 18th Hala February festivities which will kickstart on Friday, Feb 10.

In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah has given firm instructions to dedicate efforts of all departments of the ministry for facilitating the festivities and ensuring public security. Implementation of these directives is being closely followed up by the Undersecretary of the ministry Lieutenant General Sulaiman Fahad Al-Fahad.

A comprehensive plan has been prepared and will be implemented with the involvement of the Operations Sector, Public Security Department and General Traffic Department to prevent traffic jams and to facilitate movement of vehicles on the roads. Fixed and touring patrol teams have been assigned.

The plan includes closing Salem Al-Mubarak Street from the intersection with Qatar Street as well as the intersection with Amr Bin Al-Aas Street in both directions. All entrances to Salem Al-Mubarak Street will be closed from midnight of Thursday, Feb 9.

The open yards alongside Salem Al-Mubarak Street will be used as parking areas for citizens and expatriates. Two areas will be allocated for the vehicles of the disabled — the area behind Laila Gallery and the area opposite Al-Thuraya Complex.

The department revealed that there will be a number of buses to take the elderly and the disabled to the site of the festivities. It urged citizens and expatriates to call the hotline number 112 if they face any trouble or if they want to report anything wrong. It also advised people against leaving their valuable belongings inside their parked vehicles in order to avoid thefts. It urged parents and guardians to watch over their children and prevent them from driving without drivers' licenses.
