Encouraged by tales of the wonders of Global Village, one US-based couple took a long trip to Dubai just to see what it has to offer.

The couple - Milia and Angel Devino - were in London when they first heard about Global Village.

"I ran into another tourist in London last year who had just come back from visiting Dubai and we were exchanging opinions about the city when he asked me if I had been to Global Village," Milia said. "I had only been to Dubai once for a few days during the month of September a few years back."

Global Village to get more parking spaces

"When this man started telling me about Global Village, I knew I had to go back during its new season," she added. "We've been planning on visiting our families from the Philippines to see our families for quite some time now, but ever since I heard about Global Village I've been keen on visiting it. Since I had little knowledge about the destination, I sent an email with a few questions I had in order to better plan our layover and to my surprise, I got an instant reply."

"Touched" by Milia's insistence on visiting Global Village, the site's management decided to host the couple for a full experience, and provided the couple with a pickup and drop off to the venue, a guided tour by a staff member, and dinner in one of the village's restaurants.

Five Global Village pavilions you must visit

"I've never experienced so many different cultures in one place. What an effortless way to see the world," Angel said. "We've already told many of our friends back home in Washington, D.C that we're coming here, but now I can't wait to go back and tell them about all that we've seen and experienced."

During their visit, the couple visited the Yemen pavilion to buy some honey, tasted a few Saudi dates in the KSA pavilion, shopped for Japanese teas, and bought Spanish jewellery and Afghan leather before ending the night by feasting on Iranian kebabs and catching a show.

"Of all the places I've visited not one offers all the things that Global Village does all under one roof," said Milia. "It's the real deal."
