Markfed Punjab to expand food market in Canada


(MENAFN- KNN India) In order to bring the taste of home-made vegetarian Punjabi food to the doorsteps of food connoisseurs in Canada, the Punjab State Co-operative supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (Markfed) has proposed to set up its market there.

The apex state level cooperative institution will be soon appointing two exclusive distributors for SOHNA edible product in entire eastern and western Canada markets.

Its brand name 'SOHNA' is regarded as market leader in Sarson-ka-Saag and other ready-to-eat products category.

Distributor will be responsible for establishing the requisite sales network by appointing distributors and sales personnel. It will undertake advertisement and promotional expenses, as deemed necessary, for promoting the sale of SOHNA brand products in consultation with Markfed.

In this regard, the federation is inviting bids from wholesalers, dealers, food chain and super markets dealing in food business and those who are desirous of undertaking marketing and distributorship to be service provider.

Markfed has an annual turnover of over Rs 11600 crores during 2013-2014 with 1932 employees. It operates through 17 district offices over 100 branch offices in Mandi Towns and 9 processing and trading units. (KNN/ST)
