Oman to play friendly against Ireland in Dublin on?Sept 3


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As part of the national team's build-up for the Gulf Cup in Riyadh in November, the Oman Football Association (OFA) has arranged a friendly for the side against Ireland in Dublin on September 3.

According to a press release from OFA, Oman, which is currently ranked 81st in FIFA world ranking, will take on Ireland, ranked 65th, during its trip to Europe.

As previously announced by Sayyid Khalid al Busaidy, the OFA chairman, the board that met recently also approved the national team's two friendly games against Uzbekistan on May 27 and May 29.

Among the other highlights of the meeting was the approval of the national beach soccer team, coached by Talib Hilal, to take part in the third Arab Beach Football Championship in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt from May 13-17; appointment of Harry Brooke, head of physiotherapy department, to the sports medicine committee and monitoring the appointment of qualified physios in the clubs.

The OFA is also planning to create a digital database of players in the sultanate in all age group categories and has asked the OPL clubs to create a standard contract for players that will mention salaries.

The closing ceremony of the season will be held a day before the final of the HM's Cup that is likely to be held either on May 24 or 25.
