(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Locals of Shaheen Muslim Town have alleged that three minor children were killed and five were affected after receiving IPV (Inactivated Polio Vaccine) injection, however, the polio vaccination coordinator denied the allegations.
In this regard, a protest demonstration was held by parents and relatives of three children against the polio campaigners for administering what they called "expired injections".
The protestors stated that the children died after consumption of polio drops thus, they have demanded the government to halt the vaccination and take stern actions against the officials concerned.
However, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa polio coordinator Atifur Rehman said that children did not die of polio drops but a negative reaction of vaccination caused their death
Rehman further said that the children are given polio vaccine drops that have an expiry date of 2019-20 and that they are very vigilant about it.
He maintained that a committee comprising of health experts and pediatricians has been constituted to probe into the matter which will submit report to health department within 48 hours.
Rehman also said that deceased Shahram was administered polio drops on night of 27 April, however, he died on the 29.

'The only reaction that can be caused by IPV is anaphylaxis, but it happens soon after injection however the child died after two days".
