Oman- Modern College of Business and Science holds 24th Commencement Ceremony of 70 students


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) celebrated its 24th Commencement Ceremony of 70 students in three different educational programmes. This was first batch of the Master in Islamic banking and Finance, the first batch of Master in Information technology and the eleventh batch of Master of Business Administration to graduate.

The ceremony was held at the Grand Millennium Hotel under the patronage of Salaam bin Saeed al Shaqsi, member of the State Council and chief executive officer of Alizz Islamic Bank; prof David Decker, president of Franklin University; Dr Muneer al Maskery, founder and executive chairman of the Modern College of Business and Science; prof Ahmed bin Mohammed al Naamany, dean of the Modern College of Business and Science; Dr Anna Stakic, associate dean of the Modern College of Business and Science; board members; faculty members; students and parents.

In her welcoming address, Dr Ana congratulated the graduating students and said, 'For the past two years, we have been watching in amazement how you've engaged yourselves in the spirit and the vision of the college and embraced all that it has offered you. Based on true academic values and strong belief in building the knowledge-based society, we became the first fully private college in the sultanate. Ever since then, we have passionately strived for academic excellence and endeavoured to equip our students with the up to date knowledge and skills needed to meet the challenges of an increasingly globalised world. Today, MCBS is synonymous with quality education based on modern academic processes, knowledge transfer methodologies and student-centred learning. We are well known for empowering students to be competitive in the labour market and for keeping pace with contemporary global and business trends. We strongly promote the concept of digital technology education, lifelong learning and career guidance and constantly maintain relations with the industry and community.'

Dr Ana added, 'Our plans for the future are to adequately respond to current market needs which stem from the economic diversification in Oman. We are happy to announce that we are planning to introduce 6 new specialisations in the MBA programme - Airport and Aviation Management; Transport and Logistics Management; Marketing; Project Management and Health, Safety, Security and Environment.

'Realising the immense importance played by an effective public sector for the economic and social development of a country, we have successfully launched a new master's degree program Master in Public Administration. The program is delivered in Arabic and it has seen an excellent response from Omani education seekers. This is another proof that we are modern and flexible in finding unique ways of modernisation in accordance with ongoing education requirements and rapid progress in business and science.'

Prof Decker said, 'As the president of Franklin University, one of my key achievements has been the successful partnership of the university with Modern College. The academic collaboration continues to grow.'

Shaqsi said that the graduates are sure to take an active role in building the economy of Oman in the banking and finance sector. With rapid growth in the sector of Islamic Finance in Oman and the world, MCBS has enhanced the academic sector.
