Hantavirus-Affected Cruise Ship Arrives in Rotterdam for Disinfection


(MENAFN) According to reports, the cruise ship MV Hondius, which was affected by hantavirus cases, arrived at the Dutch port of Rotterdam on Monday to undergo disinfection, marking the final stop of a voyage that attracted attention from international health authorities.

The crew members are expected to enter quarantine immediately upon arrival. Those unable to return to their home countries will remain under quarantine in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch health ministry.

According to reports, the vessel currently has 27 people on board, including 25 crew members and two medical staff. The group includes nationals from several countries, and most are expected to undergo a six-week quarantine period in Rotterdam.

The ship’s operator, Oceanwide Expeditions, said in a statement that remaining crew and medical personnel would disembark gradually in coordination with the cleaning process once the vessel reached port, according to reports.
