Report Details US and Iranian Conditions for Possible Deal

(MENAFN) A report published Sunday outlined a series of conditions reportedly presented by the United States and Iran as part of ongoing efforts to reach a potential agreement amid continuing regional tensions.

According to reports citing Iran’s semi-official media, Washington proposed five primary conditions during negotiations with Tehran. Among the reported demands was “allowing only one Iranian nuclear facility to remain operational.”

The report also claimed that the United States rejected the idea of paying compensation or damages, requested the transfer of 400 kilograms of Iranian uranium to American custody, opposed releasing even a quarter of Iran’s frozen financial assets, and linked any broader halt in fighting across regional fronts to the progress and outcome of negotiations.

On the Iranian side, reports said Tehran’s conditions include a full end to hostilities in all arenas, including Lebanon, the lifting of sanctions, access to frozen Iranian assets, compensation for damages caused by the conflict, and “recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.”

Regional tensions have remained high since military strikes launched earlier this year by the United States and Israel against Iran, according to reports. Tehran later responded with attacks targeting Israel as well as American allies in the Gulf region, alongside moves involving the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire reportedly came into effect on April 8 following mediation efforts by Pakistan, though negotiations held afterward in Islamabad did not produce a permanent settlement. Reports also stated that US President Donald Trump later announced an indefinite extension of the truce.
