FM Muttaqi Receives Credentials Of New ICRC Head In Kabul
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its X account today that Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Johannes Bruwer, the newly appointed head of the ICRC in Afghanistan, congratulated him on his new role, and assured him of the ministry's full cooperation to support the effective advancement of his work.
According to the ministry, Muttaqi described relations between Afghanistan and the ICRC as longstanding and historic, and stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian cooperation between the two sides.
He also praised the efforts of the former ICRC head in Afghanistan, Katarina Ritz, describing the activities carried out during her tenure as significant and valuable.
Meanwhile, Johannes Bruwer pledged that during his tenure he would continue humanitarian activities in coordination with the institutions of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
Katarina Ritz, for her part, expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support provided by the relevant IEA institutions during her mission in Afghanistan and described her tenure as productive and achievement-filled.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to expand bilateral cooperation in humanitarian services and strengthen mutual engagement.
