Putin, UAE President Discuss Iran And Middle East Crisis By Phone
Russia's Foreign Ministry said the two leaders reviewed issues linked to the Middle East crisis and emphasized the importance of continuing political and diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching agreements that consider the interests of regional countries.
The Kremlin said both sides also expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between Russia and United Arab Emirates in political, trade and economic sectors, while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close bilateral ties.
The conversation comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent military escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which has disrupted Gulf shipping routes and intensified diplomatic activity among regional and global powers.
The United Arab Emirates has increasingly positioned itself as a regional diplomatic actor in recent years, maintaining relations with both Western countries and Russia while also participating in mediation and humanitarian initiatives linked to regional conflicts.
Putin also thanked the UAE for its humanitarian assistance related to the consequences of the war in Ukraine, reflecting Abu Dhabi's continuing role in humanitarian and prisoner-exchange efforts connected to the conflict.
Russia and the UAE have expanded economic and political coordination since the start of the Ukraine war, as Moscow seeks stronger partnerships with Gulf states amid continuing Western sanctions and geopolitical pressure.
