Drone Strike Hits Russia's Ryazan Region, Killing Four

(MENAFN) Four people, among them a child, were killed and 28 others wounded in an overnight Ukrainian drone assault targeting Russia's Ryazan Region, local officials confirmed Friday.

Ryazan regional governor Pavel Malkov reported that two multi-story residential buildings sustained damage during the attack, with debris from intercepted drones also falling on the grounds of a local industrial facility.

Russia's Defense Ministry said earlier Friday that national air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 355 Ukrainian drones across Russian territory overnight. Malkov specified that Ryazan alone was targeted by 99 drones during the assault.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced Friday that Ukrainian forces had struck the Ryazan oil refinery, along with ships, ammunition depots, and radar installations — reporting that a large-scale fire had broken out at the oil facility following the strikes.

The General Staff noted that the Ryazan oil refinery ranks among Russia's largest petroleum processing installations, with an annual refining capacity of approximately 17 million tons of oil.
