Trump Expresses Optimism for Stronger US–China Relations

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he expects ties between the United States and China to become stronger than ever after discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Trump also responded to remarks from Xi that seemed to label the US as a “declining nation.” He pushed back slightly, saying that such criticism was directed at the previous administration under former President Joe Biden rather than his current leadership.

“When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden Administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He further attributed a range of domestic challenges to the Biden administration, including economic fragility, immigration difficulties, rising crime concerns, and social policies he strongly opposes, such as diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

In contrast, Trump described his own leadership as having revived American strength across both economic and military dimensions during what he called “16 spectacular months” in office.

He pointed to record-high stock market results, solid job growth, rising levels of foreign investment, and military achievements abroad as evidence that the United States had regained global strength under his administration.
