Israel, US Discuss Renewed Military Action Against Iran

(MENAFN) Israeli and United States military officials conducted discussions over potential scenarios for renewed military action against Iran during the past week, with Tel Aviv reportedly advocating a return to confrontation, according to claims made on Thursday by a news agency.

The broadcaster reported that senior Israeli military figures and representatives from US Central Command (CENTCOM) reviewed possible renewed operations against Iran, along with alternative American options. These included tightening a maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz as part of what is being referred to as “Project Freedom.”

According to the report, Israel sent a message to Washington expressing its desire to restart military operations, asserting that the conflict with Iran concluded “earlier than it should have been.”

The news agency also stated that one of the scenarios under consideration involved limited US strikes targeting Iranian fuel and energy infrastructure, with the aim of pressuring Tehran to re-enter negotiations and abandon its nuclear program.

The report further indicated that Israel has made preparations for potential Iranian retaliation, including the possibility of renewed missile attacks on Israeli territory if hostilities resume.

Officials cited by the broadcaster said that US President Donald Trump is weighing two primary options: resuming military operations—an approach supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—or intensifying the maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier on Thursday, according to the same source, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated: “We are prepared for the possibility that we may soon be required to act again in Iran.”
