Trump Meets Xi Jinping in Beijing

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump arrived on Friday morning for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Xi’s official residence, marking the start of the final day of their two-day summit. The visit focused on concluding discussions between the two leaders before Trump’s departure from China.

The White House press pool observed Trump walking alongside Xi through Zhongnanhai Garden as preparations were made for what has been described as a "friendship photo" prior to a bilateral tea session followed by a closed-door lunch. These engagements in Beijing represent the last scheduled meetings before Trump travels back to the United States.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump commented on his relationship with Xi, saying they "have a very good relationship." He further stated, "We have a friendship, really. He's a tremendous leader. He's been here a long time, very powerful, very strong," Trump said. "He's all business, and that's a good thing. No games...You couldn't find a guy like him, even his physical features, you know, he's tall, very tall, and especially for this country, because they tend to be a little bit shorter."

Trump’s trip to China comes at a time of continued tension in the Middle East following military strikes involving US and Israeli forces against Iran on Feb. 28. The situation triggered retaliatory actions against Israel and US partners in the Gulf, along with the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz. An indefinite ceasefire is currently holding.
