One Killed, Two Abducted As Land Feud Turns Violent In Hangu


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) One person was killed and two others were allegedly abducted after an exchange of fire between two tribes over a land dispute in the Doaba area of Hangu.

Following the incident, the Peshawar-Parachinar highway remained closed for some time but was later reopened for traffic.

According to DSP Mujahid Hussain, a long-standing land dispute had been ongoing between the Palosin Wazir and Darsamand tribes, which led to clashes and exchange of fire between the two groups.

As a result of the firing, one person belonging to the Darsamand tribe was killed, while reports of the abduction of two individuals were also received.

DPO Tariq Habib said that heavy police contingents reached the spot immediately after receiving information and brought the situation under control.

A ceasefire was arranged between both parties, while a search operation is underway for the recovery of the abducted persons.

Police said additional personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, while negotiations between both sides are also ongoing to ease tensions.
