Blast Targets Security Facility in Northwestern Pakistan

(MENAFN) A deadly suicide bombing struck a security installation in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the death of one civilian along with at least eight members of the country’s security forces, according to local authorities cited by a news agency on Friday.

Police officials stated that an additional 35 security personnel sustained injuries during the assault, which unfolded late Thursday night in the Bajaur District region near the Afghan border. The incident reportedly occurred when a vehicle packed with explosives attempted to breach the entrance of a scouts camp.

The powerful explosion caused significant destruction to the camp’s main gate and nearby boundary walls, officials added.

No organization has yet come forward to claim responsibility for the bombing.
