Poland Seeks to Ease Concerns After Reports of Paused US Troop Deployment

(MENAFN) According to reports, Poland’s defense leadership has moved to ease public concern following media claims that the United States has paused a planned deployment of thousands of troops to the country.

US military-focused outlets reported that Washington had suspended preparations to send around 4,000 soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division to Poland as part of a scheduled nine-month rotation. Some reports indicated that military equipment had already been transported to Europe before the operation was halted.

In response, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated on social media that the issue “does not concern Poland,” explaining that it relates instead to a broader restructuring of US military deployments across Europe.

He emphasized that the strengthening of Poland’s armed forces, combined with the continued presence of US troops in the country, reinforces NATO’s eastern flank.

A similar message was issued by Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland’s minister responsible for coordinating intelligence services, who described it as significant that the cancelled rotation “does not concern Poland.”

However, Polish media reported that some senior officials within the defense and foreign ministries were initially unaware of the reported US decision and only later received informal assurances through intelligence channels that Poland was not directly affected.
