Israel Signs Major Deal to Extend F-35 Fighter Jet Range

(MENAFN) According to reports, Israel has announced the signing of a contract worth more than $34 million aimed at expanding the operational range of its F-35 Adir fighter jets.

The Defense Ministry stated that its Defense Procurement Directorate reached the agreement with Cyclone, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, to develop an extended-range capability for the F-35 aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin.

The deal reportedly includes the development and integration of external fuel tanks based on an existing Cyclone design originally created for the F-16 fighter jet.

Officials said the upgrade is intended to increase the aircraft’s operational range, reduce dependence on aerial refueling, and improve flexibility during long-distance missions.

The announcement comes amid the ongoing war involving Iran, as military activity and strategic defense preparations continue to intensify in the region.
