Houthis Warn US Attack on Iran Would Escalate Regional Conflict

(MENAFN) Yemen’s Houthi movement has warned that any renewed US military action against Iran could escalate into a broader regional conflict with global consequences, according to reports.

The warning was conveyed in a message from Abdulwahid Abu Ras, acting foreign minister in the Houthi administration, to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as reported by a news agency.

Abu Ras said continued attacks on Iran would destabilize the region and have serious implications for global energy markets and the wider economy, according to reports.

“The continuation of the aggression against Iran will drag the region and the world into a war whose consequences everyone will suffer from,” he said.

He also described such actions as targeting “the entire nation,” and called on Islamic countries to oppose what he referred to as a “Zionist plan” affecting the wider region.

According to reports, the statement also expressed support for diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and a political settlement to end hostilities involving Iran and other regional states.
