Palestinian Christians Warn of Rising Threats in East Jerusalem

(MENAFN) Palestinian Christians say they are increasingly alarmed by what they describe as intensifying Israeli actions and rhetoric targeting their community and religious sites in occupied East Jerusalem, according to reports.

Residents explain that these developments are part of wider measures affecting the Christian presence in the city, including tightened movement controls and restricted access to places of worship.

“The situation in East Jerusalem is very difficult and unacceptable, and it provokes Christians around the world,” a Palestinian Christian from Ramallah said. “What we are witnessing is discrimination and racism, where anyone who is not Jewish, whether Muslim or Christian, is targeted.”

He urged a shift in Israeli policies and called for an end to actions affecting Christians in the area.

Another resident shared similar concerns, describing a worsening environment in the city. “The situation in Jerusalem has become worrying, and residents are subjected to continuous harassment and provocations,” he said from his shop in Ramallah.

He added that travel into East Jerusalem has become increasingly difficult, even for those holding permits. “Access to East Jerusalem has become complicated, even for those with permits, due to checkpoints and military measures,” he said, noting that visits to the city are no longer as accessible as they once were, as stated by reports.
