Türkiye's TAI Broadens Defense Ties with Malaysia
(MENAFN) Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is broadening its defense partnership with Malaysia, with new collaborative ventures in the pipeline, the company's chief executive announced on the sidelines of the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited the TAI booth during the event, where he signed a full-scale model of the TAI Hurjet jet trainer on display — a gesture underscoring the depth of bilateral defense engagement.
TAI CEO Mehmet Demiroglu hailed the Kuala Lumpur expo as one of Asia's most prominent and long-standing defense showcases, pointing to the company's already-established footprint in Malaysia, anchored by the delivery of three ANKA unmanned aerial vehicles to the Malaysian Air Force.
"Our work with Malaysia continues with UAVs and the Hurjet program," he said. "We have a TAI office in the country with more than 120 workers, serving as a bridge between Türkiye and Malaysia."
Demiroglu described Malaysia as a cornerstone defense partner for Türkiye, adding that additional Turkish firms are expected to take part in new and more ambitious regional projects in the near future.
"Malaysia is one of the leading developing countries and in many respects a developed country with close ties with Türkiye in the defense sector," he said.
"The expo attracted massive interest, and we believe TAI and Türkiye's defense industry will bring even larger projects to life in the coming years," he added.
