Defence Ministry Signs Rs 975 Crore Contracts For TRAWL Systems
According to a press release by the Ministry of Defence, the contracts were inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi on April 21, 2026.
The TRAWL Assembly, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is a critical minefield-breaching system designed to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Army. It enables the creation of vehicle-safe lanes through minefields, including those with anti-tank mines equipped with proximity magnetic fuses.
The procurement falls under the 'Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)' category, aimed at strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and reducing reliance on imports. The project is also expected to generate direct and indirect employment, particularly by supporting the MSME sector involved in component manufacturing.
The development is part of ongoing efforts to modernise defence infrastructure while promoting indigenous capability under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
