Trump Claims Iran Deal Has “Very Good Chance” of Being Completed
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he remains optimistic about ongoing negotiations with Iran, stating that there is “a very good chance” of reaching a final agreement.
As stated in comments to a media outlet, Trump said, “The concept of the deal is done. I think we have a very good chance to get it completed,” signaling confidence in the direction of the talks.
According to reports, discussions are expected to take place on Tuesday in Islamabad, and could continue into Wednesday. A White House official told a media oulet that US Vice President JD Vance, along with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will travel to Pakistan for the negotiations.
However, Iran has not yet confirmed participation. According to reports citing a news agency, Tehran has not decided to send a delegation, saying it will not engage in talks while a US naval blockade remains in effect.
Iranian news agency described US demands as “excessive, unreasonable, and unrealistic,” accusing Washington of repeatedly shifting its positions and maintaining contradictory stances throughout the process.
As stated by reports, Iranian officials said there are currently no clear signs of productive negotiations under the present conditions.
Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly been severely disrupted since the US-Israeli offensive on Iran began on February 28, with a formal US naval blockade announced on April 13.
