Senegal’s President Calls for Reform of Global Governance

(MENAFN) According to reports, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has called for sweeping changes to global governance structures, emphasizing the need for a system that is more balanced, inclusive, and reflective of current global realities.

Speaking at a gathering of Senegal’s ambassadors and consuls near Dakar, he highlighted the importance of ensuring that Africa is properly represented on the international stage, with its priorities fully recognized in global decision-making.

Faye reaffirmed support for multilateral cooperation as the foundation for international relations, but argued that existing frameworks must be reworked and revitalized to move beyond outdated structures shaped by the post-World War era.

He warned that the global landscape is facing increasing instability, stating, "The world is going through a period of major geopolitical turbulence and unprecedented challenges," and pointed to rising conflicts and ongoing tensions among nuclear-armed nations as signs of deeper systemic issues.

The president also criticized what he described as the growing acceptance of unilateral military action, saying it contradicts the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.

He added that such developments threaten global stability and weaken the fundamental concept of human dignity, calling for renewed efforts to strengthen international cooperation and fairness.
