Japan’s Nikkei Opens Higher on Thursday

(MENAFN) Japan’s benchmark stock gauge rallied sharply on Thursday morning, climbing more than 2% to set a new intraday record as investor sentiment improved on geopolitical developments.

The Nikkei Stock Average jumped 1,415.35 points, or 2.43%, from the previous session to reach 59,549.59. The broader Topix index also advanced, gaining 50.33 points, or 1.33%, to 3,820.66.

Market momentum was driven by reports indicate progress toward resuming negotiations between the United States and Iran, boosting risk appetite across equities.

During the session, the Nikkei broke through its previous intraday peak of 59,332.43, which had been set on Feb. 26, marking a fresh milestone for Japanese stocks.
