Rocket, Drone Attack Hits Azadi Camp in Northern Iraq

(MENAFN) The Azadi camp in northern Iraq was targeted by an attack involving drones and rockets on Friday, according to security and media reports.

The camp, linked to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, is located in the Koy Sanjaq district of Erbil province. Security sources cited by the Erbil-based Rudaw Media Network reported that the assault took place in the afternoon and involved four rockets and two suicide drones.

The report did not identify the party responsible for the attack, and it remains unclear whether there were any casualties or damage to property at the camp.

Since last Saturday, eight Arab nations — including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Iraq — have been struck by attacks attributed to Iran following military operations against Tehran carried out by Israel and the United States.

Iran has stated that its actions target “U.S. interests” in these countries, although some strikes have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including ports and residential buildings.

At the same time, Tehran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel in retaliation for the U.S. and Israeli operations that have killed hundreds, including Ali Khamenei, the Iranian supreme leader.
