Russia-Ukraine-US talks wrap up second day in UAE

(MENAFN) The second day of trilateral discussions between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in Abu Dhabi concluded on Saturday, according to reports.

Russian officials said Moscow’s delegation, led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces, returned to their hotel following the talks.

Representatives from the US delegation reportedly headed to the airport after the negotiations.

Ukraine’s public broadcaster also confirmed the discussions had ended, noting the sessions lasted more than three hours. No official joint statement has been released so far.

According to reports from Ukrainian officials, the meetings were described as “positive” and “constructive,” with another round expected in Abu Dhabi “next week.” Rustem Umerov, who heads Ukraine’s delegation, said the talks are focused on establishing parameters for ending the war and achieving “a dignified, lasting peace.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously noted that the situation in the Donbas region would be a “key” topic during the trilateral discussions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented that efforts to resolve the conflict, which will mark four years next month, are “progressing.” He also emphasized the significance of implementing the so-called “Anchorage formula,” referring to a face-to-face meeting last August between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
