Former H&K Global CEO Joins Avoq As Chief Executive

WASHINGTON - Avoq has named former Hill & Knowlton global CEO Kelli Parsons its new chief executive - a move in keeping with the agency's push to drive growth and innovation.
Parsons officially joins the public affairs firm Feb. 1. She succeeds Nicole Cornish, who vacated the role at the end of 2024 after eight years with Avoq and its predecessor Subject Matter, which merged with Kivvit in 2023 to create Avoq.
Parsons served as H&K's global CEO since July 2024, when the agency merged with BCW to form Burson.
Before assuming leadership of H&K, Parsons served as the agency's global chair of corporate affairs and advisory. Before joining H&K for a second time in 2020, Parsons spent 12 years in-house. That included Parsons served as United Technologies chief communications officer, as which she led global comms, marketing and social impact for the aerospace and defense conglomerate. Previously, Parsons was New York Life's chief communications & marketing officer and Fannie Mae's CCO before that.
She is the immediate past chair of Page, the global association for senior communications executives, and serves as a trustee of the Institute for Public Relations.
In an interview, Parsons said she was drawn to Avoq by what she sees as a distinctive opportunity to build on a firm already known for results and client impact. She described Avoq as“a tremendous platform” to apply both her in-house and agency experience as client needs become more complex and the profession's role in value creation grows more critical.
She plans to spend significant time with teams across Avoq's offices in Washington, New York, and Chicago. emphasizing a leadership style she characterizes as both client-first and team-first.“I'm selective,” Parsons said in the interview, adding that she saw the role as a chance to continue building“something special” with a firm that already has a strong reputation for excellence.
