Russian Missile And Drone Attacks Kill 3, Injure 16 In Kyiv

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) At least three people were killed and 16 others wounded in Kyiv following fresh Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, with critical infrastructure also damaged in the west.

Ukrainian officials said Russia launched drones and missiles early Friday, striking multiple locations across the capital and triggering explosions in several districts.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, said several areas were hit, including the Desnianskyi district, where a drone crashed onto the roof of a multi-storey building and damaged lower floors of a residential block.

Russia has intensified aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, increasingly combining drones with high-speed missiles to overwhelm air defences.

Kyiv and other major cities have remained frequent targets since the start of the war, as Moscow seeks to undermine civilian morale and disrupt daily life.

Meanwhile, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said a Russian ballistic missile struck vital infrastructure in the western city, far from the front lines.

Ukraine's western air force command said the missile was travelling at extremely high speed, estimated at around 13,000 kilometres per hour. The strikes came hours after Ukraine's president warned citizens that Russia could launch a large-scale attack.

As the war enters its third year and winter deepens, Ukrainian officials warn that Russia is again targeting energy and critical infrastructure to increase pressure on major cities, particularly Kyiv.
