Displacement Continues In Tirah Valley As Over 5,000 Families Forced To Flee
The displacement from Tirah Valley Maidan in Khyber District continues, as another 450 families were forced to leave the area yesterday.
According to the district administration, more than 5,000 families have so far been displaced from Tirah Valley.
The Khyber district administration has completed comprehensive arrangements for the registration of the affected people, NADRA biometric verification, and the provision of basic facilities.
Formal registration is expected to begin within the next one or two days.
According to the administration, the affected families will initially be issued tokens at registration points established at Bagh Markaz and the Dutoi Check Post.
Those arriving at Bagh Markaz will receive tokens there, while individuals moving further ahead will obtain their tokens from the Dutoi Check Post.
The administration has clarified that all affected persons must report to the central registration point set up at Pindi Chena Government Higher Secondary School for final registration and NADRA biometric verification.
Staff from NADRA, PDMA, the district administration, Zong company, and other relevant departments will be present there at all times.
At the Pindi Chena registration center, facilities for food and medical assistance will be provided to the affected people.
Additionally, those who have hired vehicles at their own expense will receive cash reimbursement for transport fares at the same location.
According to the district administration, full arrangements for government vehicles have been made at Bagh Markaz and other points to transport the belongings of the affected families, and the administration will bear the cost of these vehicles.
The administration has instructed the affected people to bring their national identity cards and issued tokens for biometric verification.
To provide further facilitation, a separate registration center is also being established in Bara for biometric verification of those affected families who have already shifted to Bara or Peshawar.
The district administration has appealed to the affected people to strictly follow the issued instructions to avoid any inconvenience and to complete the registration process in a timely manner.
