Drone Strike in Russia’s Saratov Kills Two, Damages Buildings

(MENAFN) A Ukrainian drone assault on Russia’s Saratov region on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two individuals and caused destruction to several structures, the regional governor reported.

In a Telegram statement, Roman Busargin said: "As a result of Ukraine's drone attack, an apartment building was damaged. Two people died."

He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of complete support.

The strike also impacted the exterior walls and broke windows of a local kindergarten and polyclinic. Fortunately, no children or patients were present at the time, as the incident occurred during the night, Busargin added.

Emergency responders are currently at the scene, and a temporary refuge has been arranged for those affected.

Residents whose homes suffered damage will be provided with financial aid from the regional budget, while administrative personnel will conduct door-to-door assessments, he noted.

Ukraine has not yet responded to Russia’s allegations, and independent confirmation remains difficult amid the ongoing conflict, which is nearing its fourth year.
