Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has affirmed its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the escalating approach adopted by the Israeli occupation forces regarding the serious violation of Syrian sovereignty, exemplified by the provocative visits of the Israeli Prime Minister and several of his government officials to the border region in southern Syria.

In a statement Thursday, GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi emphasized that violating the sovereignty of states or threatening their borders is an unacceptable transgression and a violation of international law.

He called on the international community to take immediate and responsible action to halt the repeated Israeli attacks and prevent further escalation that threatens regional and international peace.

Al Budaiwi stressed the importance of maintaining Syria's territorial integrity, protecting its sovereignty and stability, and emphasized the need to strengthen security and stability in the region, in accordance with the principles of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter.
