Nearly 15,000 Refugees Return From Iran, Pakistan In A Single Day

KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 14,911 Afghan refugees returned from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said on Thursday.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), wrote on his X handle that 2,500 Afghan families, comprising 14,911 individuals, came back to the country from Iran and Pakistan on Wednesday.

He said the refugees entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat, Pul-i-Abresham in Nimroz, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Bahramcha in Helmand and the Torkham crossing.

According to Fitrat, 3,005 families (20,742 individuals) were transported to their respective provinces, while 3,446 returnees received humanitarian assistance.

He added that a total of 2,577 SIM cards were distributed among the returning refugees by telecommunication companies.

Earlier in the week, 16,243 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan in a single day.
