Qatar Chamber, Qatar Exports Hold Workshop To Address Private Sector Challenges
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Chamber, in co-operation with Qatar Exports, held a joint workshop attended by Ali Sultan al-Kuwari, senior manager of Export Development at Qatar Development Bank (QDB).
The speakers included Hamad Ali Muaiqil al-Marri, director of Committees and Business Councils Affairs at Qatar Chamber, and Al-Anoud Zayed al-Muhannadi, director of Member Affairs, with the participation of many representatives from private sector companies.
Held at the chamber's headquarters, the workshop reviewed key challenges facing local companies and the private sector. Participants raised several issues that were addressed by chamber officials, who provided insights and discussed proposals aimed at improving business operations and overcoming existing obstacles.
Al-Kuwari said the workshop, in co-operation with partners at Qatar Chamber, reviewed the certificate of origin and its issuance mechanisms as part of joint efforts to support exporters from Qatari-based companies and those operating in the industrial sector.
He said the initiative aims to equip companies with the knowledge and tools necessary to grow their businesses and facilitate the export of their products and services, thereby enhancing the reputation and credibility of Qatari products in global markets.
Al-Kuwari added that this effort aligns with the QDB's strategy to strengthen the national export system, ensuring the sustainable development of the private sector and boosting its competitiveness in world markets.
Al-Marri reviewed the department's competencies and its role in representing and developing the interests of the private sector. He also outlined the department's tasks, which include co-ordinating and holding meetings of sectoral committees, as well as discussions with relevant authorities and private sector representatives.
He noted that the department continuously aims to address the obstacles facing the private sector, conduct field studies, and review relevant regulations, laws, and legislation.
Al-Mohannadi explained the department's roles and responsibilities, particularly those related to the issuance of certificates of origin and attestations. She affirmed that the chamber is keen to facilitate services for its members and local companies by providing online services through its website. She noted that from the beginning of 2025 until mid-October, the department processed more than 46,000 transactions.
The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of the procedures and services available to Qatari companies, supporting their efforts to expand and access global markets. It also sought to strengthen co-operation among entities that support the private sector and to inform business owners and exporters about key initiatives that enhance their competitiveness in both local and international markets.
The event is part of the joint efforts of Qatar Chamber and QBB to support the business ecosystem and empower the private sector to maximise the benefits of the programmes and services offered by both entities.
