S. Korea’s former leader misses third session of second trial

(MENAFN) Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol missed the third consecutive session of his second trial related to martial law charges on Tuesday, Yonhap News Agency reported. The hearing at Seoul Central District Court continued despite his absence.

Yoon had also skipped the previous hearing on Friday, citing health concerns. The trial involves allegations that he violated Cabinet members’ rights during the December martial law declaration, altered the martial law proclamation, and obstructed investigators seeking his detention in January.

He is simultaneously facing another trial for allegedly leading an insurrection through the December 3, 2024 martial law attempt. Yoon has not attended that trial since being re-arrested in July, again citing health reasons. As of Monday, he had missed the 15th consecutive session of that proceeding.
