Israeli Forces Beat 57-Year-Old Palestinian Man to Dead in West Bank

(MENAFN) A 57-year-old Palestinian man died after being severely beaten by Israeli army personnel in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, medical sources confirmed.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that it received the man’s body in Ramallah from Israeli authorities, noting he had suffered a head injury.

Witnesses told media that the victim, from Zababdeh, south of Jenin in northern West Bank, was attacked while attempting to cross the Israeli separation barrier to reach his workplace inside Israel.

Constructed in 2002, Israel’s separation wall divides the occupied West Bank from Israel, with Tel Aviv citing security justifications. However, the International Court of Justice ruled in 2004 that the barrier violates international law and is illegal.

Human rights organizations condemn Israeli forces’ repeated violent actions against Palestinians near the barrier, commonly labeled the “apartheid wall.”

Since the onset of Israel’s Gaza war in October 2023, Palestinian sources report that over 1,051 people have been killed in the West Bank, more than 10,300 wounded, and upwards of 20,000 detained, including 1,600 children.
